Lady Clementine

By Marie Benedict
Lexile = 1000?

Another "woman behind the famous man" narrative from Marie Benedict. Love this book. I have always had a historical "crush" on Winston Churchill, but knew nothing about his amazing wife. The Churchill family rode a rollercoaster of successes and failures in the years leading up to WWII. Benedict chooses smart women who were restrained by their times as her topics, and Lady Clementine is a perfect focus for this author. They had five children, but Mrs. Churchill was a continual presence in the decision making of her husband.

If you are a fan of historical fiction and want to read a story about a strong, brilliant, ambitious woman during England's darkest hour, this is for you!
