Waiting for Tom Hanks
By Kerry Windfrey
Lexile = ?
You know when you read a book or see a movie and wish (secretly) that something like that could happen to you? The protagonist of Waiting for Tom Hanks is doing just that. Watching RomComs, writing RomComs, and waiting for a sweet, sensitive, funny Tom Hanks-like character to sweep her off her feet. Lucky for her, a major movie begins shooting in her small town AND she gets a job on the set! Too bad that the romantic lead of the movie is cocky, rude, and not at all like Tom Hanks.
Well.... I bet you can guess where this is going. I imagine a predictable plot is comforting and a fun, easy read. I must have liked it, because I read the whole thing in just a couple of days. That being said, the gushing book reviews I have seen online (HERE, for example) are a bit over the top. This is a good read, but defintiely not life-changing!
