Please browse here to find books that I think are worth your time.... or are real stinkers. I will let you know what I REALLY think of what I am reading. You might not find the newest and most popular books here, but I would LOVE it if you find something unexpectedly great!

I will indicate on each post the Lexile level of the book.
To find out more about Lexile levels, go HERE.

Use the labels list on the right side of the screen to find a title about something you are interested in. You can also search by Lexile levels.

Happy Reading!

Truly Devious

By Maureen Johnson
Lexile = 680

This post should be entitled "Books that aren't for me, but I can't call it a stinker".

So I listen a LOT to a podcast called "What Should I Read Next". The host asks her guests for three books they love and one they hate. Many listeners have a really hard time saying they hate a book... I think because book people think books are sacred and you can't hate them. Well, I hate some books, but the podcaster's compromise is to say that a book "isn't for you". I'm ok with that as well. And there might be a title that isn't for you NOW, but will be at another time.

Which bring us to Truly Devious. I have many students that really like this book and they encouraged me to read it. ... Sorry, it falls squarely into the "not for me" category. But I do know why! This book is a puzzle/mystery book. I can't even do crossword puzzles or word searches without cheating and looking for the answers at the back of the book! I don't like Agatha Christie titles, either. Sorry. If you do, I am quite sure that you will love Truly Devious and its sequel.

Watch a book trailer HERE. It makes even me want to try again!
