Lexile = ?
Wright is not considered a YA author, but he IS a Utah based author, so this new offering by him is basically a required purchase for our library. Lucky for us, it's a pretty good read! Wright is know for The Rent Collector and The Orphan Keeper, both great books set outside the United States. The Other Side of the Bridge is partially a historical retelling of the building of the Gold Gate Bridge. In the current timeline of the novel, Katie Connelley has been assigned by her boss to complete a history of the building of the bridge. On the other side of the country, we meet David Riley, a man who has just lost his family in a terrible accident. Yes, the paths of these two will eventually intersect. You have to see that coming.
I liked this book, but didn't LOVE it. While his previous books have been unique and interesting, The Other Side of the Bridge was predictable and came off like a middle-aged angsty Mormon fiction read. Too honest? I expected more from Wright. Yes, a decent read, but this won't get all book clubs reading like his previous titles did.
